Size: Known to grow over 30kg
Bait: From a live bait to a variety of lures such as a baitcasting diving minnow to rattling spot lures, soft plastic jigs and spinner baits can all do the job.
Habitat: Range from the Mary River system in Queensland, around the top end to Shark Bay in the West. More commonly known as a northern Australian species. Australian Barramundi are all hatched as males, then change sex as they grow older.
Tackle: 10kg main line with a 24kg trace. Use a 2 to 3/0 hook depending on size of bait. Use up to 24kg trace when fishing with lures.
