:JOURNAL ENTRY Submitted By Triggerfish

Date Fished:   Sunday, 29th November 2009 Action:
Location:   St Georges Basin
Result:   Hit the road a little late but still managed to get on the water by 6:30am. I can't believe how early yhe sun rises these days. The wind was blowing a few knots from the North and we had our lines in the water shortly after. I was fishing 3" Riptide Mullets and Travis was throwing the 4" model in Electric Chicken. No hits. Very quiet. We decided to move a few other places and pick up the odd 25 - 45cm lizard. One more spost and then we'll head back. The sun was overhead and startig to make bacon of my skin. Trav cast up toward the shallows, and on first lift, the rod bent over. YES! Unfortunately it didnt move, a huge clump of weed we thought. He lifted and wound, slow weighted movements until about 20m from the boat. Then all of a sudden large slow headshakes appeared and the line started belting off in the opposite direction. The spool began to scream, and within all of 3 seconds, whatever it was, spat the lure. It could only be 1 of 3 things... a jewfish (but that would have run from 1 first lift), a ray or a large flathead. I'm pretty sure is was a flatty. I managed to hook a small Tarwine for a photo, then released it. Oh well, better luck next time. The big ones are still there, they are just getting pickier! Cheers Triggerfish
